About

Background

The story so far

I’m a qualified Strength & Conditioning Coach and Personal Trainer with a lifelong commitment to fitness, performance, and continual learning. My journey in sport began at the age of 12 through boxing, where I developed discipline, work ethic, and a deep respect for structured training – values that still underpin my coaching today.

By the age of 14, I had also begun weightlifting, which sparked a long-term passion for strength training and athletic development. Since then, I’ve dedicated my career to helping people become stronger, more capable, and more confident – whether that’s in sport or everyday life.

I hold qualifications as a Level 2 Fitness Instructor, Level 3 Personal Trainer, and Level 4 Strength & Conditioning Coach, and I work with a wide range of individuals – from young athletes developing physical literacy to adults looking to build strength, improve health, and maintain independence.

achievements

Alongside my private coaching work, I coach the Youth Hypers Academy at Biggar Rugby Club, where I deliver strength & conditioning sessions and oversee long-term programming. I also have over two years’ experience coaching 1-to-1 personal training clients, both in person and online, supporting goals ranging from fat loss and strength gain to improved confidence and performance.

My experience extends into competitive sport at a high level. I have helped coach youth boxers competing internationally, and I bring first-hand insight from my own boxing career, having won multiple titles including the Scottish Championship. This background allows me to understand both the physical and mental demands of performance sport, as well as the importance of consistency and intelligent progression.

Strength continuum

Coaching Philosophy

My coaching philosophy is built around the Strength Continuum – the belief that strength training is a lifelong skill, not a short-term phase. From young athletes learning how to move well, to competitive performers chasing podium finishes, and senior adults aiming to stay strong and independent, strength training should evolve with the individual.

My approach prioritises:

I have a strong passion for studying strength & conditioning research, textbooks, and the work of leading coaches throughout history, ensuring my methods remain evidence-based, practical, and up to date.
